The Civic Museum in Taverna(Catanzaro) is holding the exhibition Avant-Garde and Transavant-garde - Permanent Collection and Temporary Figures open until November 30, 2018. The exhibition will include a selection of thirty works created by the Artists of the 1910-’40s generation(Rotella, Savelli, Guerrieri, Drei, Pozzati, Bendini, Turchiaro, Accame, Bentivoglio, to mention some of the most well-known) that will be exhibited in the museum’s permanent itinerary, while the works of the historical artists of the Italian Transavanguardia(Chia, Clemente, Cucchi, De Maria and Paladino) will be available in the Exhibition Hall of the former Refectory, adjacent to the cloister of Palazzo San Domenico.
The event, curated by the management of the museum with the collaboration of the Scientific Committee, takes on in the programming of theCultural Institute of Taverna an important value of continuity in the incessant action of dissemination and enhancement of Contemporary Art in Calabria, a characterizing figure since the first projects carried out, it is enough to remember in this year 2018 in which the centenary of the birth of Mimmo Rotella, the personal inauguration of his significant exhibition in the now distant 1990.
Of note for the cultural project, fundamentally supported by the Municipality of Taverna, is the granting of Patronage by the MIBACT - Polo Museale della Calabria, thanks to the adhesion of Director Angela Acordon.
The visit to the exhibition will be supported by a catalog-guide edited byGiuseppe Valentino with institutional contributions from MayorSebastiano Tarantino, Culture DelegateClementina Amelio as well as scientific contributions fromBruno Bevacqua and Caterina Vitelli.
As part of the collateral activities of the event, the activation of the specific Educational Laboratory “BGR - The shape of color” is planned for schools of all levels, which will be curated by Caterina Bagnato in collaboration withMaria Puleo and the “Artè” Cooperative.
The exhibition can be visited daily, except Mondays, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 4 to 7 p.m.
