At the Complesso del Vittoriano comes the first exhibition dedicated to Julien Friedler (Brussels, 1950) ever mounted in Rome: Behind the World. The exhibition, which will be held from November 9 to December 2, 2018 in theAla Brasini, will feature 20 large-scale works, including the installation La Forêt des Âmes (2009-2010), the true centerpiece of the exhibition, consisting of 9 columns representing the will participatory and actionist of Friedler’s (singular figure of philosopher, psychoanalyst, poet and artist) universe and aiming at the birth of a modern collective spirituality based on art.
Already exhibited in New York, Brussels, Milan, Spoleto, Rivara and soon in Paris, the work takes its cue from the Spirit of Boz, a participatory project expressed in the spontaneous responses given by the public to a questionnaire. The thousands of responses collected so far from all over the world - joined now with those of Roman visitors - constitute the material of which the 9 column-containers of the work are composed. At the Vittoriano it will then be possible to deposit one’s own message and read that of others.
Organized by Arthemisia Group and produced by theSpirit of Boz for Contemporary Art Association, the exhibition opens, as mentioned, from Nov. 9 to Dec. 2, 2018, and will be accompanied by a catalog published by La Route de la Soie - Éditions, Paris. Opening hours: Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. (Admission is allowed up to one hour before).
