From March 15 to June 2, 2025, OGR Turin will host the exhibition Time Machines. The Journey into the Universe Starts with You, animmersive experience that will transform Binary 1 into a space-time portal. After its first edition at the Palazzo Esposizioni in Rome, the exhibition comes to Turin to offer the public an interactive journey to discover the wonders of the cosmos.
Conceived by theNational Institute of Astrophysics (INAF), realized by OGR Turin and designed by Pleiadi, with contributions from Infini.to Planetario di Torino - Museo dell’Astronomia e dello Spazio “Attilio Ferrari” and the MU-CH Museum of Chemistry, the exhibition offers an interactive journey that ranges from stars to galaxies, from extrasolar planets to asteroids, and even mysterious black holes. The exhibition combines immersive installations, interactive settings and video games inspired by the 1980s, offering an experience that combines the past, present and future of astrophysical research.
A distinctive element of the exhibit is the integration of futuristic time machines designed by INAF, which allow visitors to explore the history of the Universe through the latest scientific discoveries. The exhibition is designed to engage not only science enthusiasts, but also anyone who wishes to be fascinated by the history and mysteries of the cosmos.
“With this exhibition we offer the public an experience that combines art, science and technology in a fascinating journey through the Universe,” said Davide Canavesio, president of OGR Torino. “”OGR confirms itself as a laboratory of experimentation and innovation, a place where knowledge is translated into immersive and engaging experiences. Hosting Time Machines means not only providing space for scientific popularization, but also contributing to making knowledge accessible and stimulating for an increasingly wide and diverse audience. This is demonstrated by the adherence of more than one hundred schools, a true sign of response to the urgent need to teach through immersive and qua lity experiences . Our goal with this exhibition is to inspire curiosity and wonder, offering new perspectives on the cosmos and our role within it."
"With Machines of Time, the National Institute of Astrophysics shows the public the instruments that scrutinize the sky and explore the Universe in epochs far removed from our own, from the 8 minutes it takes for light from the Sun to reach us, to the billions of years perco rsed by messengers from the farthest galaxies," explained Roberto Ragazzoni, INAF President. “Our Institute is a leader in exploring the Universe and designing the machines that allow us to unveil its secrets, but also in experimenting with new languages to excite the public and guide them on this extraordinary journey of discovery. From the wonders of the Sun and stars, to the ’innumerable worlds’ near and far, passing through our Galaxy and those more remote, from compact stars to black holes, from gravitational waves to the search for life in the Universe. All this and more you can discover by visiting Time Machines, a journey that we hope will ignite the curiosity of everyone and mag ari inspire younger minds to take the path of scientific research, so that one day they will be the ones to write the next chapters of discoveries in the cosmos.”
