From March 4 to June 25, 2023, the National Archaeological Museum in Naples will host an exhibition dedicated to Lucio Dalla (Bologna, 1943 - Montreux, 2012), opened on the occasion of the singer-songwriter’s 80th birthday. It is Lucio Dalla. Il sogno di essere napoletano (The dream of being Neapolitan), an exhibition dedicated to the human and musical genius of the artist: a journey that starts from childhood and traces a path of life and collective memory, to the rhythm of the notes of his songs.

The exhibition, promoted by MANN National Archaeological Museum of Naples, directed by Paolo Giulierini, and Lucio Dalla Foundation with Ministry of Culture, with the collaboration and support of Campania Region and Campania Festival Foundation is organized and produced by C.O.R. Creare Organizzare Realizzare, special partner Lavoropiù. The exhibition, curated by Alessandro Nicosia with the Lucio Dalla Foundation, is part of the Il MANN per la città initiatives and sees the participation of Archivio Luce Cinecittà with the patronage of RAI and the technical collaboration of SIAE Società Italiana degli Autori e degli Editori, Universal Music Publishing Group, Grand Hotel Vesuvio and BIG|Broker Insurance Group. The exhibition encompasses fifty years of Lucio Dalla’s history and is the result of a long search for materials, many of which are on display for the first time, documenting the entire human and artistic journey of one of Italy’s and the world’s most beloved artists. Lucio Dalla made a unique and innovative mark on the history of Italian music: a storyteller of life and sounds who with biting irony and poetic gaze won the hearts of many, not only a musician but also an actor, writer, theater director, sports lover and passionate about motors, dance, opera, painting, literature, with an impressive number of interests.

The unpublished section “Dalla and Naples” is dedicated to the relationship between the singer and the capital of Campania, a city that inevitably enchanted him and a great source of inspiration for his songs.

Along with documents that tell us about his life, art and passions, the exhibition will offer viewers the opportunity for a unique and special encounter with the artist.
