From May 15 to November 3, 2024, the Baths of Caracalla will host the photographic exhibition Narcissus. Reflections mirrored, curated by Nunzio Giustozzi, promoted by the Special Superintendence of Rome, under the guidance of Daniela Porro, and organized by Electa. On display will be 78 author’s shots divided into three sections and set up in two covered rooms and in the natatio of the monument.
Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves among portraits of famous people, mysterious interiors and fragments of life captured over time in various parts of the world, images juxtaposed by affinity or contrast in a narrative aimed, beyond the occasion, at the history of each individual image, individuals and motivations that have continued to influence artists even distant in time and in their artistic expression.
In an unprecedented visual experience, a section of the exhibition will finally explore the theme ofSelf-Portrait in front of the Mirror, allowing visitors a close encounter with the photographers themselves, whose likenesses have become as much icons as their shots.
Thirty-five photographers are featured in the exhibition: Simon Annand, Eve Arnold, Gian Paolo Barbieri, Cecil Beaton, Ilse Bing, Claude Cahun, Robert Capa, Lisetta Carmi, Mat Collishaw, Bruce Davidson, Robert Doisneau, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Burt Glinn, Guido Harari, Florence Henri, Frank Horvat, David James, Richard Kalvar, Astrid Kirchherr, Hiroji Kubota, Herbert List, Giorgio Liotti, Fabio Lovino, René Maltête, Fosco Maraini, Simone Martinetto, Duane Michals, Inge Morath, Philippe Morillon, Helmut Newton, Guido Rey, Steve Schapiro, Ferdinando Scianna, Jeanloup Sieff, Wanda Wulz.
