At Real Academia de España en Roma three representative works by Pistoletto for its 150th anniversary

The Real Academia de España en Roma presents, on the occasion of its one hundred and fiftieth anniversary, a selection of some of the most representative works of Michelangelo Pistoletto's artistic journey.

From January 19 to March 10, 2024, the Real Academia de España en Roma presents the exhibition Michelangelo Pistoletto en la Real Academia de España en Roma, curated by Raffaele Quattrone, on the occasion of its 150th anniversary.

The artist offers here a selection of some of his most famous works, representative of his research path: his iconic Venus of rags, “an attempt to unite the beauty of the past and the disaster of the present,” as Pistoletto himself defines it; the Mirror Well expressly conceived for the Tempietto del Bramante; Love Difference-Mediterranean Sea, a large mirrored table outlined as the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by chairs each from one of the countries bordering this sea. The latter work was chosen by Pistoletto to underscore the need for dialogue among the countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea and how art can be resolving social differences.

The exhibition aims to generate a series of reflections for responsible social transformation.
