Ferrara ’s Palazzo dei Diamanti will host for the first time, from March 23 to July 21, 2024, an exhibition dedicated to Maurits Cornelis Escher (Leeuwarden, 1898 - Hilversum, 1972), the brilliant Dutch artist whose works bring together many themes and suggestions, from geometric theorems to mathematical insights, from philosophical reflections to the paradoxes of logic.
Organized by Arthemisia, Fondazione Ferrara Arte and the Art Museum Service of the Municipality of Ferrara, in collaboration with the M. C. Escher Foundation and Maurits, the exhibition entitled Escher is curated by Federico Giudiceandrea, among the leading experts on the artist, and Mark Veldhuysen, president of the M.C. Escher Foundation.
Born in 1898 in Leeuwarden in the Netherlands and living in Italy between the wars, Escher won over the public with his ability to transport them inside imaginative and seemingly impossible worlds. He has, in fact, been rediscovered by the general public relatively recently, but his unmistakable works, which have also influenced the world of design and advertising, are a challenge to perception and are unique in the art world.
