At PAFF! the largest exhibition dedicated to Moebius held in Italy

From November 13, 2021 to February 13, 2022, the PAFF! Palazzo Arti Fumetto Friuli is hosting an exhibition dedicated to one of the best known and most successful cartoonists and illustrators, Moebius (Jean Henri Gaston Giraud, 1938 - 2012). The exhibition titled MOEBIUS - In Search of Time is proposed as the largest exhibition held in Italy dedicated to him.

The exhibition leads visitors into theartist’s imaginative universe, exploring his relationship with time, among his most frequent themes in his art. A continuous game of cross-references between past dimensions and future fates, reality and science fiction, adding estrangement and dreaminess to his panels. More than three hundred works will be on display, with 153 original drawings and 174 reproductions of various types: engravings with autograph, limited edition art prints with autograph, prints on Dbond, digital and scenic reproductions, distributed along the gallery rooms in the modern wing attached to the Villa Galvani in Pordenone, home of PAFF!

A section dedicated to the relationship between Moebius and Italy will not be missing. Significant space will also be devoted to the more intimate dimension of the artist’s work, to his research on the “inner desert,” with plates from forty jour dans le Désert B and personal experiments on the fantastic forms of crystals. An entire section will be devoted to Dante, on the occasion of the seven hundredth anniversary of the Supreme Poet’s death, and to Moebius’ memorable interpretation of Paradise, for the Nuages Gallery. The itinerary will be enhanced by Metamoebius, a 52-minute documentary by Damian Pettigrew and Olivier Gal.

An innovative element will be augmented reality: along the route, some paintings will come to life. Simply download an app and frame the works with a smartphone.

The exhibition is organized by PAFF! in collaboration with COMICON under the artistic direction of Mœbius Production.
