From Tuesday, Sept. 24 to Monday, Sept. 14, 2019, the library corridor on the fourth floor at the main entrance of Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS will host the exhibition Art in the Ward: Paolo Franzoso.
For thefirst time, a real exhibition will be mounted at the University Polyclinic, designed by Marco Bertoli, a consultant and curator of art from Modena. Some 20 lively and unconventional works by Paolo Franzoso will be on display, and part of the proceeds from their sale will be donated to the expansion of the pediatric emergency room at the Rome facility.
“The project was created to bring a little cheerfulness and joy to the hospital as well, where, more than ever, the experience of beauty is needed to bring a public, which hardly attends exhibitions, closer to the language of contemporary art, trying to go beyond the surface of the appearance of the work and thus soliciting the reflective capacities of each person,” said Marco Bertoli.
“This painting exhibition testifies to the closeness of figurative art to the world of children, as an artist’s mind and feeling are often very close to those of childhood. Also for this reason, a portion of the proceeds from the exhibition will be donated to the Pediatric Emergency Room of the Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS in Rome, in order to improve its activities and the reception given to the young patients who are referred to it,” added Professor Antonio Chiaretti, head of the Pediatric Emergency Room of the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS in Rome.
Also scheduled is a meeting, curated by Marco Bertoli and Professor Chiaretti, to explain how the Art in the Ward project, which enjoys the Patronage of the Municipality of Roma Capitale, came about.
