Extended until September 5, 2019, the exhibition that Palazzo Reale in Milan dedicates to Guido Pajetta, a Milanese artist among the greatest interpreters of the 20th century.
The anthological Guido Pajetta. Myths and Figures between Form and Color, which opened on July 5, was a great success with the public, so it was decided to extend it from its scheduled closing date of September 1.
Curated by Paolo Biscottini, Paolo Campiglio and Giorgio Pajetta, the exhibition offers a significant selection of 90 works created by the artist during his long career, from his beginnings on the Milanese scene, passing through various international experiences, until the 1980s, shortly before his death. The exhibition is divided into nine thematic sections and analyzes the Brera years, classicism, the European dimension, portraiture, still life, masks and the dream dimension, the female figure, landscape and finally war.
A prolific and anomalous artist, he was confronted with figures, such as Sironi and Carrà, and with Post-cubism and Surrealism, by which he was profoundly influenced without, however, ever tying himself or identifying with a single style. In order not to feel limited in his art, he distanced himself from any recognized artistic current and painted driven by his own unconscious and instinct.
The main theme running through all his works isrestlessness.
