It is an exhibition entirely dedicated to Andy Warhol (Pittsburgh, 1928 - New York, 1987) and his life and artistic production in 1980s New York that Palazzo Albergati in Bologna is organizing from September 29, 2018 until February 24, 2019. Entitled Warhol&Friends. New York in the 1980s, the exhibition will feature Warhol and other artists of the time such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Francesco Clemente, Keith Haring, Julian Schnabel and Jeff Koons.

The exhibition will feature 36 works and 38 Andy Warhol polaroids and some art cycles created by the pop art guru at the beginning of this decade such as Shoes, Hammer & Sickle, Camouflage, Lenin, Joseph Beuys, Vesuvius and Knives, with a bombastic and rumbling set-up made of tin foil, gilded papers and silverware as a backdrop and accompanied by music typical of those years often read as the decade of disenchantment and superficiality, but which saw art, music, cinema and literature combine.
Under the patronage of the Emilia Romagna Region and the Municipality of Bologna, the exhibition “Warhol&Friends. New York in the 1980s” is produced and organized by Gruppo Arthemisia and curated by Luca Beatrice.
