Andy Warhol in Cortina d'Ampezzo. Eugenio Falcioni brings the works of the pop-art star to the mountains.

Cortina d'Ampezzo is hosting the exhibition Andy Warhol Superstar from December 7, 2018 to April 22, 2019.

A major exhibition dedicated to the father of Pop Art lands in Cortina d’Ampezzo: it is Andy Warhol Superstar, featuring more than 100 works by the American artist. On display in Cortina d’Ampezzo is the entire history of the most pungent interpreter of mass society and consumerism, an illuminating sociologist of 1960s America: Andy Warhol (Pittsburgh, 1928 - New York, 1987).

In the halls of the Mario Rimoldi Museum of Modern Art, Andy Warhol’s most important works: starting with the colorful Liz (1964), passing through stamps such as S&H Green Stamps (1965), arriving at the ever-present Marilyn (1967). And again, five Cow (1966 to 1978) and all the other super icons: the silkscreen of the timeless Brillo Box (1970), the Flowers (1964 and 1970), the Mao, 1972 and of 1974, Campbell’s Soup (1980), Ladies and Gentlemen, the Camouflage of 1987.

Andy Warhol was able to transform the fetishes of the American collective imagination into art, becoming one of the most acclaimed artists in history. He turned Coca Cola into icons as Elvis Presley, Campbell’s Soup as Liz Taylor and Marilyn Monroe, the dollar bill as Jackie Kennedy. The review aims to tell the story of the incredible life of a man, character and artist, who changed the connotations of the art world but also of music, film and fashion, who radically disrupted any previous aesthetic definition. His 5 minutes of fame still continues.

Under the Patronage of the Municipality of Cortina D’Ampezzo, World Alpine Ski Championships Cortina d’Ampezzo 2021, the Veneto Region and the Province of Belluno, the exhibition produced and organized by Arthemisia and Eugenio Falcioni, in collaboration with Art Motors, is curated by Gian Camillo Custoza.
