An unpublished painting by Frida Kahlo will be on display at MUDEC in Milan

On the occasion of the exhibition Frida Kahlo-Obeyond the Myth to be held at MUDEC in Milan, a painting that has never been presented to the public will be on display.

At the MUDEC-Museum of Cultures in Milan, Frida Kahlo’sSelf-Portrait with Monkey has already arrived directly from the Buffalo museum, on the occasion of the exhibition"Frida Kahlo. Beyond the Myth," which will be held at the Milan museum from Feb. 1 to June 3, 2018.

The painting is the symbol of the exhibition and this will be the second time it will be exhibited in Europe, since, according to exhibition curator Diego Sileo, the painting travels very little (it is the Buffalo museum’s attraction).

Also on display at the Milan venue will be a work by the celebrated Mexican artist that has never before been exhibited:"Nina with Collar," a portrait of a young woman, the daughter of Kahlo’s assistant, which was made in 1929 and given to the girl’s mother.

The painting had been considered lost forever because the protagonist had kept it hidden until her death. Later, however, it was sold at auction by the owner’s son.

Now the work belongs to a European collector who will be present in person at the opening of the exhibition.
