The Centro Verdi in Segrate (Milan) is hosting from Sept. 6 to Oct. 13 the exhibition EverydayClimateChange - ECC - Photographing Climate Change, the first stop in Lombardy of this internationally renowned exhibition. The exhibition, curated by Photo Op in collaboration with James Whitlow Delano and Matilde Gattoni, is a project born from an idea of photojournalist James Whitlow Delano, carried out by more than 30 photographers from 6 continents working in the 7 corners of the planet. Initially an Instagram theme to raise awareness of the global environmental emergency, ECC soon turned into a traveling exhibition, shown at numerous photo events and festivals including Photoville in New York, Noorderlicht Photofestival in the Netherlands, Obscura Festival in Penang, Malaysia, and several exhibition venues such as Objectifs Centre for Film and Photography in Singapore.
“This exhibition is an invitation to observe in order to know, but also to know in order to act, each in our own field, each within the choices we can make as individuals and as a community,” says Culture Councilor Gianluca Poldi. “It presents visual evidence that climate change is happening everywhere. The photos are part of projects followed with dedication by photographers of great quality, from different cultures, each with their own vision that they were able to harmonize into a common goal. It is an exhibition for adults and children that will be accompanied by a series of meetings with experts who will talk to us about climate, biodiversity, sustainability, and the future.”
“The choices made in recent years with respect to a more responsible management of the territory, the projects undertaken to get to better differentiate waste or increase energy savings, for example by replacing all LED lamps, and the many initiatives to raise awareness of good practices such as the abandonment of single-use plastic or the use of bicycles for travel in the city,” comments Mayor Paolo Micheli, “testify to the great attention to the environment of my administration. But we must and will do even more, and this beautiful exhibition will further help us understand what is happening to our planet. I invite parents and grandparents to bring their children or grandchildren to see these photographs, they will be worth a thousand words.”
The exhibition will be open from Sept. 7 to Oct. 13 daily from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. We thank sponsors Orpea Italia and Gruppo CAP for supporting the initiative.
