An international exhibition in Rome dedicated to Marilyn Monroe

From May 17 to July 30, 2017, the Palazzo degli Esami in Rome is hosting an international exhibition dedicated to Marilyn Monroe.

An international exhibition dedicated to the quintessential blonde Hollywood star, Marilyn Monroe, opens tomorrow, May 17, at the Palazzo degli Esami in Rome.

On display until July 30 are more than 200 personal items, clothes, accessories, documents, photographs, film contracts, and film clips to tell the various facets of the unforgettable Marilyn: from woman to movie legend to manager. Many of the personal items are on display thanks to loans from international collectors who have always been enchanted by the diva, particularly from the collection of Ted Stampfer, a German art collector who owns the largest private collection of its kind.

Unmissable Marilyn: woman, myth, manager is curated by Fabio Di Gioia who said, “The exhibition proposes a finally upside-down reinterpretation of Marilyn’s character, in which her private life ends up affecting us more than the myth. The documents and objects that have come down to us from the actress’s daily life tell how intense Marilyn was as a private person, guided by remarkable instinct and pragmatism and capable of making independent decisions for her career. A truth blatantly at odds with the image and icon desired by the American film industry that made her famous.”
