From January 24 to May 5, 2024, the Centrale Montemartini will host the exhibition Architetture inabitabili, promoted by Roma Capitale, Assessorato alla Cultura, Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali, organized and produced by Archivio Luce Cinecittà, and curated by Chiara Sbarigia with Dario Dalla Lana.
The exhibition aims to suggest a new point of view onarchitecture, to discover a conception of it different from the one commonly linked to housing functionality, and to investigate the critical relationship between living and building, starting from some buildings that are emblematic of this fracture
The exhibition identifies some particularly significant examples of uninhabitable architecture, distributed throughout the country, finding evidence of them in the materials of theLUCE Archive and other archives.
The historical photographs are joined by works signed by contemporary photographers and artists such as Gianni Berengo Gardin, Guido Guidi, Marzia Migliora, Mark Power, Sekiya Masaaki, and Steve McCurry, as well as some images by Francesco Jodice and Silvia Camporesi specially commissioned for the exhibition, and pages that Italian writers composed for the occasion.
