Marisa Merz, the only female exponent of theArte Povera group, and who passed away only a few days ago, will be celebrated in Lugano with the exhibition Geometrie sconnesse palpiti geometrici, which will be held at the Giancarlo and Danna Olgiati Collection from Sept. 22, 2019 to Jan. 12, 2020. This is in fact the first posthumous exhibition dedicated to the great artist.
Curated by Beatrice Merz and developed in collaboration with the Fondazione Merz, the exhibition traces the entire creative horizon of Marisa Merz: from drawing on different supports to sculpture in raw clay, from weavings of copper wire and nylon to objects transformed into wax, all to introduce all the artist’s own modes of expression, highlighting a recurring theme in her production, namely the investigation of the face or figure, identified as a point of reference in the exhibition itinerary.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog, in Italian and English, with texts by Beatrice Merz and art historians Ester Coen and Douglas Fogle.
