From October 12, 2019 to March 20, 2020, Rome ’s Set Spazio Eventi Tirso hosts the exhibition The Chaos Within, dedicated to one of the most famous couples in art history, that formed by Frida Kahlo (Coyoacán, 1907 - 1954) and Diego Rivera (Guanajuato, 1886 - Mexico City, 1957). The two artists represent the symbol of the Mexican artistic and cultural avant-garde of the twentieth century. Frida Kahlo is known for her troubled life of adventures, passions and sorrows, while her husband Diego Rivera was among the main inspirers of muralist art.
Curated by Sergio Uribe, the exhibition is spread over more than 600 square meters and aims to take visitors directly into the lives of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera through a narrative made up of letters, drawings, diary pages, everyday objects, clothing, jewelry and exclusive photographs taken at the time by Leo Matiz. Also on display are some original paintings never exhibited before, such as the Portrait of Frida that Rivera drew in 1954 or La niña de los abanicos also by Diego Rivera from 1913. Also on display is Frida Kahlo’s work Piden aeroplanos y les dan alas de petate, oil on cardboard from 1938.
The exhibition also features for the first time a scenic-artistic reconstruction of Mexican life through the faithful reproduction of “Casa Azul” with its rooms and green garden. The exhibition has the patronage of the embassies of Mexico and Colombia, the Detroit Institute Of Art - USA, as well as the Leo Matiz Foundation chaired by his daughter Alejandra. After Rome, the second stage of The Chaos Within is scheduled in 2020 in Milan, at “La Fabbrica del Vapore.”
Given the numerous requests to purchase tickets, the production informs that as of today, tickets for the exhibition are on sale online at www.tickettando.it and www.ticketone.it. For info contact 333-6095192.
