Yesterday, June 16, the exhibition at the Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea “Raffaele De Grada” in San Gimignano"Henri Cartier-Bresson fotografo" opened and will be open until October 15, 2017.
The exhibition, curated by Denis Curti and promoted by the Cultural Department of the City of San Gimignano, is produced by Opera-Civita with the collaboration of the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation and Magnum Photos Paris.
140 shots that will present his life, his passion, his world in order to make the public understand the research that the great photographer places at the basis of his images.
For Cartier-Bresson, “the camera is like a notepad, a tool to support intuition and spontaneity, the master of the moment who, in visual terms, asks and decides at the same time. To ”make sense“ of the world, one must feel involved in what one frames in the viewfinder. Such an attitude requires concentration, mental discipline, sensitivity and a sense of geometry. Only through a minimal use of means can one arrive at simplicity of expression.”
The Henri Cartier-Bresson Photographer exhibition is a selection originally curated by friend and publisher Robert Delpire and created in collaboration with the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation, an institution created in 2003 together with the artist’s wife and daughter in order to collect his work and create an exhibition space open to other artists.
