The Italian Occupation of Libya. Violence and Colonialism 1911-1943 is the title of the exhibition that the House of Memory and History in Rome will hold from Sept. 27 to Nov. 22, 2018.
It is a photo-documentary exhibition that restores to the visitor the opportunity to learn more about the history of Libya, delving, in particular, into the events related to the Italian colonial period, which are still little known.
The dramatic historical events of those years are narrated through a historical-didactic path that is articulated through more than two hundred photos and dozens of documents from theNational Archives in Tripoli and from the main national archives. The exhibition, organized by theRoman Institute for the History of Italy from Fascism to the Resistance (IRSIFAR) and the MedA Foundation - Onlus, under the patronage of theNational Institute Ferruccio Parri, is promoted by Roma Capitale - Department of Cultural Activities in collaboration with theNational Institute Ferruccio Parri and Zètema Progetto Cultura.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on Thursday, September 27, at 6 p.m. at the House of Memory and History, Via S. Francesco di Sales No. 5, with the participation of Luisa Musso of theUniversity of Roma Tre and Alessandro Triulzi of theUniversity of Naples L’Orientale. A training course for teachers and students entitled: Italian Colonialism and Racisms has been organized alongside the exhibition.
