In Catanzaro, the San Giovanni Monumental Complex will host from May 23 to August 29, 2021 the exhibition Chagall. The Bible. The exhibition is dedicated to renowned artist Marc Chagall, his relationship with the Jewish religion and his pictorial reinterpretation of the Bible.
Curated by Domenico Piraina, the exhibition presents 170 graphic works by the artist, accompanied by an extensive educational apparatus that will illustrate Chagallian and biblical themes, Judaism in Calabria and the influences of Jewish art on contemporary culture. Also featured will be works by two well-known contemporary artists Max Marra and Antonio Pujia to complete the unseen exhibition itinerary.
Chagall. The Bible is produced and organized by the City of Catanzaro and the Department of Culture of the City of Catanzaro with Arthemisia, is made possible thanks to the contribution of the Region of Calabria, with the Patronage of the Provincial Administration of Catanzaro, the support of 4Culture and with the contribution of the Culture and Art Foundation, an instrumental entity of the Third Pillar Foundation - International, thanks to whose president Emmanuele F. M. Emanuele, all schools in the Province of Catanzaro will enjoy free admission to the exhibition.
