Starting March 3 in Carrara, at the Plastic Arts Center, is the exhibition Like marble like by the collective Parasite 2.0, which will come as the conclusion of an artist residency advertised by the Municipality of Carrara. The exhibition, curated by the Arteco Association led by Beatrice Zanelli, intends to reflect on the risk of interruption of the transmission of technical-craft knowledge to new generations: the collective Parasite 2.0, rereading the historical memory preserved in local archives, through contemporary artistic practice investigates the theme of family workshops with specific reference to the Carrara reality, rich in workshops that have been handed down from generation to generation the legacy of “savoir faire” combined with sanguine and patrimonial inheritance. Conditions that have allowed experiences to be handed down over the centuries.
The Parasite 2.0 collective was founded in 2010 in Milan by architects Stefano Colombo, Eugenio Cosentino and Luca Marullo. In 2016 they won the YAP prize organized by the Maxxi in Rome. Their works have been exhibited at the 20th Architecture Biennale in Chile (2017), the Shenzhen Biennale (2015) and the Venice Biennale (2012 and 2014). They published the book Primitive Future Office. Parasite 2.0 is represented by the Operativa Arte Contemporanea gallery in Rome. The Arteco Association has been active since 2010 and works in the field of the valorization of the historical-artistic and architectural heritage, with the awareness that this heritage constitutes an organic whole of works closely linked to the territory that produced it and represents a supporting element of civil society. It also supports new generations of artists, identifying them as a necessary substance for the renewal of society.
The exhibition will run until April 14, 2018, and can be visited during CAP opening hours (Tuesday through Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.). A full schedule of activities (meetings, talks, workshops, children’s activities, even a tour around the city in search of historic craft workshops) is also planned on the sidelines of the exhibition.
