An exhibition entirely dedicated to Amy Winehouse opens in London, ten years after her death

London's Design Museum is dedicating an exhibition entirely to Amy Winehouse, the British singer-songwriter who died 10 years ago.

It opens on November 26, 2021, and will remain open to the public until April 2022, the exhibition that the Design Museum in London is dedicating entirely to Amy Winehouse, ten years after her death: it was in fact July 2011 when the British singer-songwriter was found lifeless in her Camden Town apartment.

Amy: Beyond the Stage, this is the title of the exhibition, is a tribute “to the legacy and creativity of one of the greatest singers and musicians of our time,” because “her unmistakable voice, her lyric-confessions and her iconic look made her one of the most beloved artists in the music world.” The exhibition aims to retrace Amy Winehouse’s story through her recordings and notebooks, which reveal to the public the creative process of her music and songs, and through the clothes she wore in her most famous performances, handwritten lyrics, and personal items never before displayed, such as her blue Daphne Fender Stratocaster guitar. Screens show early interviews and acoustic performances, and London’s Metropolis Studios has also been reconstructed. Also, his beloved Wurlitzer Jukebox, Camden Square signs that fans have called “graffiti condolence books” from the day he died. Also on display were some items that went up for auction in early November 2021 in Beverly Hills at Julien’s Auction house: more than eight hundred items, including clothes, accessories, and personal items that belonged to the singer, were auctioned off during the auction. Four million dollars were raised, destined in part to support the projects of the Amy Winehouse Foundation, the charity the singer’s parents started to help young people with addictions.

The exhibition was organized by the Design Museum in collaboration with The Estate of Amy Winehouse, which is waiving royalties in favor of the Amy Winehouse Foundation, and was kindly supported by John & María Pfeffer.
