AlbumArte independent space for contemporary art, presents the solo exhibition of Sonia Andresano(Salerno, 1983) entitled Allegra ma non troppo curated by Daniela Cotimbo. This is the first exhibition that AlbumArte is not forced to postpone due to the containment measures of the health emergency, the show has changed, incorporating new content. Sonia, they let it be known from the Roman space, has always said she felt at home at AlbumArte, now she returns there in a moment of silence, so difficult for the whole world and feels the desire to reopen the door, to set up the space again and try to revive it even in the sadness of this moment, in the belief that art is a solicitation always necessary to look to the future.
“There is a life of places beyond our daily perception,” the presentation reads. “An incessant flow of connections that we do not always pay attention to and that determines our relationship with space: it may be a noise, the crack in a wall, a household appliance with mechanical movements that intercepts its interstices. All this invites us to rethink our need to inhabit as a continuous revisiting of places and relationships, aware that everything flows around us and that we ourselves are agents constantly moving from one point to another. The home then becomes a hyperobject, a viscous entity that changes shape, place, but continues to represent an attractive pole of our experience. Sonia Andresano in the course of her young life has changed house and city many times, and each of her movements has been accompanied by the need for exploration aimed at establishing relationships with spaces and places, which then are always, first and foremost, relationships with oneself.”
The project narrates, with works made over the chronological span of about two years (2018-20) this continuous crossing. This path will be joined by a site-specific incursion made within the AlbumArte space just after the lockdown is over, where the artist follows the movements of a small white fly, a device already used on several occasions as a tool to bring out new points of view. The metaphorical displacement of the fly, recorded on video and then returned to the audience to experience again, gives the exhibition its title.
Allegra ma non troppo, represents a significant stage in a journey of research, a continuous motion through new forms of relating to things. We do not know when we will be able to return to truly enjoy the places we think belong to us or simply contain us, meeting each other, exchanging reflections and sharing moments of the everyday, what we can say with certainty, however, is that as we go back to look today, nothing seems the same as before.
The exhibition will be on view by reservation until July 17.
