Until October 1, 2023, the Palazzo di Città in Cagliari is hosting the exhibition Inge Morath. One Woman, One Life, Photography, dedicated to one of the most important photographers of the 20th century and the first photojournalist to join the Magnum Photos agency. The Sardinian city pays tribute to her with a major retrospective to celebrate the centenary of her birth.

Throughout her career, Inge Morath made reportages in different parts of the world, studying their language, traditions and culture. She was especially interested in the wealth of humanity she encountered: whether it was ordinary people or public figures, her gaze was always directed toward theintimacy and essence of the people portrayed in her shots. Above all, his work bears witness to a passion that moved from a deep and unavoidable need. “Photography is essentially a personal matter: the search for an inner truth,” she wrote. A photographic style developed through her experiences with Ernst Haas and Henri Cartier-Bresson.

The exhibition at the Palazzo di Città in Cagliari runs between the ground and second floors of the museum. On display are more than two hundred images to trace the life and career of the famous photographer.
