On the occasion of the80th anniversary of his passing, Palazzo Reale in Milan and Arthemisia, joined in collaboration with the MUNCH Museum, are bringing the art of Edvard Munch back to Milan from September 2024 to January 2025, after 40 years, with a major monographic exhibition dedicated to one of the most iconic and beloved artists of the 20th century, entitled Munch. The Inner Cry.
The life and work of Edvard Munch will be celebrated and analyzed in this exhibition, which promises to offer a glimpse into the Norwegian artist’s work from 1880 until his death in 1944. Through an exhibition curated by Patricia Berman and organized by Comune di Milano - Cultura, Palazzo Reale and Arthemisia, visitors will have the opportunity to trace Munch’s artistic career through one hundred works including paintings, drawings and prints all from the MUNCH Museum.
The exhibition will thus trace a fascinating journey through Munch’s creative journey, covering a time span that spans nearly sixty years of intense artistic activity. A unique opportunity to understand how the artist explored issues of perennial existential significance and challenged expressions of art.
