The Casino dei Principi of Villa Torlonia will host from June 21 to November 3, 2019 the first major anthological exhibition that Rome dedicates to Luigi Boille (Pordenone, 1926 - Rome, 2015) since his passing.
The exhibition, entitled Luigi Boille. Places of Light, Writing of Silence. Works 1958-2015, will tell through more than eighty works the painter’s artistic journey from 1958 to 2015.
On the ground floor, visitors will be able to admire works from the late 1950s, both those that are more sign-like and those where color expands, creating a contrast between the latter and the shadow, and then continue with a series of works on paper from 1958 to 2015 and paintings from 1964 to 1966. A room will also commemorate the five large works exhibited at the 1966 Venice Biennale.
On the second floor, one room will be dedicated to yellow, a recurring color in the artist’s production. This will be followed by works from the 1970s and 1980s, where the subtle mark is intensified over a wide range of colors. To conclude, the works from the years between 1992 and 2015, where we can see the search for a compositional balance, a more rarefied sign on a background color, a surreal writing that refers to Zen philosophy.
The exhibition is curated by Claudia Terenzi and Bruno Aller with the support of theLuigi Boille Archive.
