On the occasion of the celebrations for the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death, You Are Leo, the first virtual reality guide street tour dedicated to the Tuscan genius’ long stay in Milan, will be presented in Milan on May 23 as a world exclusive. You are Leo is thus a walk through the center of Milan and at the same time a journey through time, possible thanks to immersive technologies that will allow visitors to retrace Leonardo’s steps. Starting from the Fabbrica del Duomo then passing through Palazzo Reale - Corte Vecchia (where Leonardo had his workshop) to the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, continuing towards Porta Vercellina to finally arrive at the Santa Maria delle Grazie complex.

The project is the result of the collaboration between Way - We Augment You, an Imilanese start-up that operates in the cultural and tourism field using augmented and virtual reality technology to offer immersive experiences in 360° environments, and Ad Artem, active and known for twenty-five years in art education and dissemination.

A walking tour of about one Lombard mile (1.8 km) lasting 1 hour and 40 minutes will be concretely accomplished, during which visitors will see the area around them reconstructed and animated, as well as the artworks connected to the narrative, which will be visualized and narrated in 360° limbo environments.

Each participant will be equipped with a VR visor, within which the virtual experiences will be activated. Accompanying the journey will be an experienced art historian, who will welcome and guide the visitor through the tour and manage the activation of the VR experiences. At that point, the real guide will give way to the virtual one that will offer Leonardo’s eyes to immerse himself in his places and see what he himself saw. The viewer, in short, will become Leonardo: this is the meaning of the title “You are Leo.”
