WopArt, an international exhibition of works on paper, returns to Lugano. For the first time exhibited together with NFT

From September 23-25, 2022, the seventh edition of Wopart, an international fair dedicated to works on paper, will be held in Lugano. For the first time, traditional works on paper and NFT will be exhibited together.

From September 23 to 25, 2022, the international fair dedicated to works on paper Wopart, now in its seventh edition, returns to the Lugano Exhibition Center. An edition that includes a great novelty: for the first time traditional works on paper and NFT are exhibited together for all those, including collectors, enthusiasts and newcomers, who wish to approach the art market, both through traditional media and through NFT.

The title and theme of this edition is Others. The Paper and Its Mirror, NFT!, also alluding to the theme of inclusion. “In this edition of WopArt, we want to introduce the concept of inclusion, which is not divorced from the concept of sustainability,” said Robert Phillips, cultural director of WopArt. “Inclusion and sustainability are also the ability to fix and bring to representation a complex relationship and in this way crystallize in an event the relationship between the person and the multifaceted reality that surrounds them.”

The entire city of Lugano will accompany the event with contemporary art installations during the week of Sept. 19-25. And in line with the close dialogue with the city, is also the choice of WopArt to become the stage for a rich program of talks dedicated to current trends in the Crypto world and performances on the theme. Finally, there will be no shortage of exhibition and curatorial programming: several thematic exhibitions will be presented at the fair. At the entrance is the solo exhibition of Valentina Picozzi, a young artist and author of the image chosen by the City of Lugano to launch its candidacy as “Blockchain Capital.” Luca Maria Gambardella, a scientist working on Artificial Intelligence, on the other hand, is the author of an exhibition of more than one hundred square meters, spread among the stands, dedicated to the concept of interaction between man and machine. A third exhibit will be set up in the VIP Lounge sponsored as always by Eberhard/Mersmann, and a fourth exhibit will be presented by BNP Paribas and its Cultural Foundation. Instead, a performance dedicated to the novel Siddhartha written by Hermann Hesse in 1922 is planned in the Hesse Foundation space.

At WopArt it will be possible to buy physical or digital works by emerging artists from 300 euros up to 30 thousand euros, while works by historical masters of the 20th century and Old Masters will start from 50 thousand euros.
