Wonderland is in Isola del Garda: immersive open-air maxi-installations

Villa Cavazza, on Garda Island, will be transformed into Wonderland thanks to immersive open-air maxi-installations.

Garda Island will be transformed from July 10 to August 16, 2021, into the realm of Alice in Wonderland: in fact, Villa Cavazza will host for the first time an open-air exhibition featuring nine immersive and evocative maxi installations created using the latest digital techniques.

In Wonder(is)land, this is the title of the exhibition, proposes installations that insert themselves and place themselves in dialogue with the landscape. An ultrasensory fruition in close contact with the landscape. The itinerary is inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Wonderland, and in addition to the unseen maxi-installations by Vera Uberti, art director of MAI Museum - Multimedia Art Innovation, which promotes the initiative, the well-known Open my glade by special guest Pipilotti Rist, an exponent of video art, stands out: the Swiss artist’s face is crushed against a glass surface, creating a feeling of anguish and claustrophobia in the observer.

The goal of MAI events is to create inclusive experiences by going beyond the traditional limitations of indoor spaces and transform the Garda area into a cultural hub, with the support of local businesses.

The open-air exhibition can be reached by lake from Portese Harbor and is open from 8 to 11 pm. Opening days will be visible when booking on the website. Tickets include round-trip transportation to Garda Island, a visit to the gardens and loggia of the villa, and a 100 percent eco-friendly gourmet picnic under the stars and can be purchased at www.maimuseum.it
