Piacenza is stagingInverno Farnesiano, a rich series of collateral events conceived and organized by the Municipality of Piacenza, with the collaboration of Teatro Gioco Vita, to accompany throughout its opening period to the public the exhibition I Fasti di Elisabetta Farnese. Portrait of a Queen set up from December 2, 2023 to April 7, 2042 at the Civic Museums of Palazzo Farnese. An exhibition, curated by Antonella Gigli and Antonio Iommelli, organized by the Civic Museums of Palazzo Farnese in Piacenza with the support of the Municipality of Piacenza and in collaboration with the publishing house Electa, which gives the precious opportunity for visitors to see for the first time, after nearly three hundred years, the Fasti of Elisabetta Farnese (Parma, 1692 - Aranjuez, 1766), the last princess of Parma and Piacenza of the House of Farnese and queen consort of Spain as the wife of Philip V. This is an important cycle of canvases executed in the first half of the 18th century by court painter Ilario Mercanti known as lo Spolverini (Parma, 1657 - Piacenza, 1734). The Fasti of Caserta and Parma, coming thanks to extraordinary loans from the Royal Palace of Caserta and the City Hall of Parma, have in fact been reunited for this occasion with those already in Piacenza since 1928.
TheFarnese Winter, which kicked off on December 13, 2023 and will continue until April 7, 2024, thus accompanies the exhibition dedicated to the Fasti di Elisabetta with a series of events (more than forty), all free of charge, including dance, music and theater, which see the rooms of the Civic Museums of Palazzo Farnese become locations for choreographic performances, piètheatrical performances, concerts, meetings, lectures, and educational workshops in order to lead the public to the discovery of artistic worlds, architectural spaces and personalities that were protagonists in Piacenza in the first half of the 18th century.
Below, we see the program in detail.

Young students from the ArteDanza school present a traveling performance within the rooms of Palazzo Farnese. The audience will be invited into the private rooms of Elisabetta Farnese, intent on preparing, with the help of her bridesmaids for the festivities in honor of her wedding. The arrival of a young pageboy will announce the start of the party and the departure of the procession: the audience will accompany the young princess to Room 7 where she will find her consort Philip V waiting for her, along with the Court to begin the Grand Ball. Throughout the evening minuets, gavottes and pas de deux will be danced to the 18th-century music of Vivaldi, Scarlatti and Boccherini, including some played live by the young harpist Giulia Trabacchi (a talented student of the Piacenza Conservatory of Music), which will transport the audience to the rococo atmosphere of Elizabeth’s time

La Gobernadora, Elisabetta Farnese, Duchess of Parma and Piacenza, Queen of Spain
by Kabukista Teatro
The human, political and social story of a woman with uncommon intellectual, human and civic characteristics and resources in a difficult historical period marked by many epochal transitions in which Elisabeth’s own contribution was often of no small importance. The stages in the history of the Farnese family, whose vicissitudes are so deeply intertwined with the life of the city of Piacenza, that brought Elisabeth to the throne of Spain will also be retraced, thanks in part to such notable figures as Cardinal Giulio Alberoni.
