From today it is possible to visit the Vittoriale degli Italiani while remaining in Rome, thanks to virtual reality. In fact, Connessioni Culturali, a research project that is the outcome of the call for 5G technologies, was presented in Rome at the MAXXI Auditorium. Experimentation and research projects announced by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy. The virtual experience will be open to the public from Thursday, Oct. 3, to Sunday, Oct. 6, and will allow visitors to explore the Vittoriale degli Italiani in Gardone Riviera in real time directly from the MAXXI Museum. The project is promoted by a partnership of institutions and companies that collaborated in its conception - University of Padua, Fondazione The Vittoriale degli Italiani, MAXXI Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo, One More Pictures, TIM Enterprise, Lynx International, SMACT Competence Center, Move2AI and Rai Cinema. Through the integration of advanced technologies such as Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT) and Edge Computing, applied through the use of 5G ultrafast mobile networks, the project allows some of the Vittoriale’s rooms to be visited directly from the MAXXI Museum in Rome.
The key element of the project is to merge physical and digital elements located in different locations into a single environment, allowing real-time interactions between visitors to the two museums, through the implementation and use of virtual and augmented reality viewers. TIM Enterprise for the occasion has created a tailored 5G connectivity and fiber solution between the two museums to provide visitors with a smooth and optimal experience. Through the implementation of advanced technological solutions, Cultural Connections elevates interactivity and audience engagement by making the visitor experience unique and enriching and opens new scenarios on the front of conservation, study and dissemination of cultural heritage.
