Video projections on Rialto Bridge tell 1600 years of Venice's founding

Christmas of Light 2020 illuminates the Rialto Bridge, among the main symbols of Venice, ahead of the 1600th anniversary celebrations of the founding of the city, which falls on March 25, 2021. The Istrian stone monument is transformed into a book on which the most significant images of the history of the lagoon, as well as Venetian art and architecture, flow.

The video projection, promoted by the City of Venice and Vela Spa with the partnership of the Consorzio di Tutela del Prosecco DOC, will kick off on December 5 and will be repeated several times each day, from dusk to late evening, until December 31, 2020. It will be a review of images by great artists, from Vittore Carpaccio to Jacopo de’ Barbari, from Antonio da Ponte to Vincenzo Scamozzi to Canaletto, who designed or narrated that fundamental neuralgic point of trade and commerce that unites the two banks of the Grand Canal.
