On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, the Museums of Roma Capitale are offering many events and story-telling visits to discover characters, episodes, places and anecdotes from the city’s history and to celebrate the most famous loves in history and art.
From February 13 to 15, 2022, the RomAmoR at First Sight initiative will lead citizens and tourists along the streets, museums and civic monuments to learn about the loves of Anita and Giuseppe Garibaldi at the Museum of the Roman Republic, Paolo and Francesca at the Museo Canonica, and that of Amore and Psiche at the Capitoline Museums and the Museum of Rome. There will be no shortage of curiosities about love in the time of the Flavian emperors and love intrigues at the court of Napoleon Bonaparte.
It will also range from “loves without boundaries” at the Pleistocene Museum in Casal de’ Pazzi to itineraries tracing love promises, stories of thwarted love and the amorous sighs between King Numa Pompilius and the nymph Egeria. The power of Eros will also be felt at the Barracco Museum, while"bestial loves" will be staged at the Museum of Zoology.
