Appointment at the Ragghianti Foundation in Lucca with a mini-cycle of two lectures dedicated to the relationship between art and television: the two meetings, curated by art historian Chiara Mari, are intended to take participants on a discovery of art as seen through television, which can prove to be an excellent medium for popularization and criticism.
The meetings are held on Saturday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 28, also at 5:30 p.m., at the Foundation’s conference room. The introduction will be given by Paolo Bolpagni, director of the Ragghianti Foundation. On Saturday, Oct. 21, the docudrama Alberto Savionio, the polypragmon (1978) will be screened, while on Saturday, Oct. 28, the audience can see Io e... Cesare Zavattini and van Gogh’s “Wheatfield with Crows” (1972) and two episodes of the 1979 program “Vidikon”(The Story of Two Women and The Mirror, dedicated to Tina Modotti and Carla Accardi, and Michelangelo Pistoletto, respectively).
“The documentary and the programs,” the presentation reads, “are part of the debates around television as a means of artistic popularization and experimentation with specific visual languages, of which Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti was the pioneer in Italy and one of the most significant voices in the international context: themes discussed in those very years by RAI, which promoted the conference ”Visual Arts and the Role of Television,“ held in Milan in September 1978.” For information: www.fondazioneragghianti.it
