At the Baths of Caracalla you will enter for free both on Sunday, November 3, on the occasion of the initiative promoted by MiBACT Sunday at the Museum, and on Monday, November 4, 2019.
Two days of free access to visit the monumental archaeological complex in the center of Rome: the Soprintendenza Speciale Archeologia Belle Arti e Paesaggio of Rome has joined the #iovadoalmuseo initiative, which provides twenty days of free admission throughout the year to all monuments, museums, galleries, archaeological excavations, parks and monumental gardens; therefore, on November 4, visitors will be able to enter the Baths of Caracalla from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The tour runs along the gymnasium, natatio, frigidarium and calidarium, and thanks to 3D viewers it is possible to see the archaeological area just as it looked in 216 AD, in the year of its inauguration, in the eyes of the ancient Romans.
The Baths of Caracalla or Thermae Antonianae are among the largest and best-preserved bath complexes of antiquity: built in the southern part of the city at the behest of Caracalla, they possess a rectangular plan, typical of large imperial baths. The baths were not only a building for bathing, sports and body care, but also a place for walking and study.
