The Phair, a fair dedicated to images and photography, has conceived Torino Photo Tales, a project that brings together in an online platform photographic works by great masters and emerging young artists, accompanied by video interviews with galleries, museums, cultural institutions, publishers, collectors, artists and enthusiasts.
“The Coronavirus emergency,” recounted Roberto Casiraghi, creator of The Phair, together with Paola Rampini, “stimulated us to work on new ideas, developing one of the functions of the Fair, the support of the territorial art system and especially the enhancement of art galleries that devote particular attention to artistic projects related to the theme of the image. We have redefined the places of confrontation between the protagonists of the art system, with the aim of making the cultural proposal as comprehensive as possible for collectors, enthusiasts and all types of audiences that follow the Italian art scene.”
From June 25 to August 1, the first part of the project will take place: the creation of a digital album through the photographic works selected by each participating gallery. There will be 38 galleries involved and each will present three works, for a total of 114 photographs.
The platform is intended to be a place to meet masters of photography and emerging talents, artists who intervene in the photographic image. The artists include Olaf Breuning, Fatma Bucak, Luigi Ghirri, Goldschmied & Chiari, Sam Falls, Alessandra Spranzi, Paolo Ventura, and Massimo Vitali. Each series of works will then be accompanied by a video interview in which the gallerist comments on the selected works.
Torino Photo Tales also aims to stimulate a dialogue between gallerists, collectors and enthusiasts: from June 25 to 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., visitors will be able to communicate live with the gallerist, thanks to a dedicated chat.
From Oct. 1, Torino Photo Tales will continue online with the contribution of numerous external contributors, through interviews with museums, curators, galleries, publishers and collectors, to present and explore works, exhibitions and artistic productions.
