Coming soon is the XXII edition of Luci d’Artista in Turin to be held from October 29, 2019 to January 12, 2020. The initiative was created in 1998 in order to bring art out of institutional spaces and officially opens the rich schedule of events of the Contemporary Art Torino + Piemonte Autumn Special.

A special itinerary along which the public will be able to grasp the various poetic visions expressed by works created by artists fascinated by light.

This year there will be twenty-five installations in the city, fifteen in the center and ten in the wards. The wide collection of artistic creations will also be joined by an unprecedented light installation conceived by Roberto Cuoghi, entitled M I R A C O L A, which will be set up in Piazza San Carlo to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s death. With Cuoghi’s work, the City of Torina pays homage to Leonardo da Vinci’s theories on the relationship between light and shadow described in his Treatise on Painting (1540). The work is co-produced by the City of Turin and the Castello di Rivoli Museo d’Arte Contemporanea, curated by IREN, in collaboration with the Fondazione per la Cultura Torino and the Fondazione Contrada Torino Onlus; it was realized with the support of FTP Industrial and thanks to the support of Hauser & Wirth.

Next, Joseph Kosuth ’s Doppio Passaggio (Turin), which will return to the Vittorio Emanuele I Bridge, and Carmelo Giammello ’s Planetario on Via Roma will be refitted with technological and structural innovations. The city has also loaned 16 constellations of Giammello’s original work to the city of Havana, which will be set up and lit at the same time on Calle del Casco Historico Galiano, in celebration of the 500th anniversary of the founding of Cuba’s capital city.

In Piazzetta Accademia Militare, Paratissima will present a site-specific work, Multiverso by Carlo Bernardini, while at the Torino Outlet Village in Settimo Torinese, Alessandro Sciaraffa’s creative project will be placed.

Many other Luci d’Artista in the city center and in the districts.
