The works of the Praetorian Palace become living paintings in a performance

On Friday, Dec. 14, a performance by Luigi Presicce will be held at Palazzo Pretorio during which the museum's works will become living paintings.

OnFriday, December 14, 2018, at 7 p.m., a performance is scheduled at Palazzo Pretorio in Prato, in which paintings will take shape into living pictures thanks to artist Luigi Presicce and theAccademia dell’Immobilità.

The artists involved have been engaged since October in a long collective work to create a site-specific project designed for the museum. Along the three floors of Palazzo Pretorio, viewers will find a different composition inspired by the works: paintings and sculptures will come to life through the bodies that will fit into the represented narrative, expanding it. The viewer will enter the work.

Presicce’s performance will stage living paintings full of allegorical allusions, where cultural quotations will be interwoven with present-day consciousness: one can see in these a reference to the scenic installations of Carmelo Bene and Pier Paolo Pasolini.

Luigi Presicce has already created performances in several Italian museums, such as MAMbo in Bologna and MADRE in Naples, but this is the first time he has conceived a project inside an art museum such as Palazzo Pretorio, where painting and sculpture between the fourteenth and twentieth centuries coexist.

In addition to theAcademy of Immobility, costume designer Caned Icoda, videomaker Daniele Pezzi and on the occasion of the Palazzo Pretorio performance, photographer Ivan D’Alì collaborated on the project. The graphic design is by Studio Moretti Visani.

Admission: 4 euros students up to 26 years, 6 euros reduced, 8 euros full.
The performance continues until 9 p.m.
Until Dec. 12 it is possible to access the rehearsal with a single ticket at the special price of 4 euros; call 0574 1837860 for times.
