A lecture on the restoration of theCoronation of the Virgin and Saints by Giovanni di Marco, known as Giovanni dal Ponte, will be held onMonday, September 10, 2018, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the David Tribune in the Accademia Gallery in Florence.
A triptych, which can probably be dated within the third decade of the 15th century, it may have been painted for the Albergotti family chapel in Santa Maria della Pieve in Arezzo, commissioned by the sons of Arezzo jurist Francesco Albergotti.
The restoration was carried out by Lucia and Andrea Dori who, together with department curator Angelo Tartuferi, will explain to the public the conservation issues and the restoration work carried out on the occasion of the first monographic exhibition of the artist organized at the Galleria dell’Accademia in 2016.
The lecture is part of the"Recent Restorations" series of meetings conceived by the director of the Accademia Gallery in Florence, Cecilie Hollberg, and is organized in collaboration with theFriends of the Accademia Gallery of Florence Association.
