After a long stop caused by the health emergency, travel is back aboard the historic trains set up by the FS Italian Foundation. On June 26, 2022, the Reggia Express, the historic train that takes visitors from Naples Central to the Royal Palace of Caserta, the Bourbon royal palace of the Kingdom of Naples, will return.
Passengers will experience a journey aboard a train consisting of an electric locomotive with 1930s Centoporte carriages and 1950s Corbellini carriages. Indeed, as they sit in the different carriages, they can see the evolution from the Centoporte to the Corbellini, which still feature the wooden benches but with added padded headrests and, most importantly, a double entrance door giving access to the central vestibule. In just thirty minutes from the 21st century, one is catapulted back in time to 1752. The train departs from Naples Centrale and arrives at Caserta station, just across the driveway from the magnificent Reggia.
Upcoming dates for the Reggia Express July 24; Sept. 4, 11, 18 and 25; and Oct. 2, 16 and 23, 2022.
Tickets on sale through all Trenitalia channels: on the website www.trenitalia.com, in station ticket offices and self-service, and at authorized travel agencies. 50% ticket for children ages 4 to 12 and under (Adults €5, children €2.50).
