Italy’s first film and literary festival dedicated to dogs is born: the Dog Film Festival.
It will be a festival focused on empathy, nature, environment and affective values that will look at the whole canine universe, both from an affective and cultural point of view. Indeed, dogs are often protagonists of stories with humans.
Professionals, amateurs and writers are invited to enter their professional or amateur works to compete in their respective and different sections for the Dog Film Festival Awards. Two out-of-competition sections will honor the civic engagement of dogs alongside and in support of humans, and at the same time, the festival promotes a social media campaign to counter the abandonment of four-legged friends.
"The Dog Film Festival wants to contribute to making the dog the protagonist of entertainment and storytelling, and to definitively position its relationship with humans in a cultural and social perimeter to be promoted and enhanced," said curator Marco Panella. “Developing empathy between humans and dogs improves people, improves everyday life and the way we relate to the world, first and foremost mutual respect.”
The initiative, conceived by Artix, enjoys the patronage of the Italian Red Cross and FNOVI (Federazione Nazionale Ordini Veterinari Italiani); Partner is Trip for Dog, media partner Dimensione Suono Soft.
The Dog Film Festival is held in digital edition. Call for entries will be open from March 15 and entries and works must be received by May 30, 2021; from June 5 to June 25, 2021 the Juries will evaluate the Producers and Writers and Video Contest sections only for the Lovers section. The Dog Film Festival Awards are scheduled to be presented on July 8, 2021.
