The emotion map of Matera, European Capital of Culture 2019


An interactive and multisensory exhibition path tells the emotions of the inhabitants of Matera, European Capital of Culture 2019.

The exhibition Secretissima camera de lo core on the third floor of the Palazzo dell’Annunziata in Matera will be officially opened on March 23, 2019. The exhibition has already been a remarkable success on December 19 and 20, 2018, when thepreview was opened on an extraordinary basis.

It is an interactive and multisensory exhibition that tells the emotions of about four hundred Matera residents between the ages of 10 and 80 and takes visitors to discover the city of the Sassi, European Capital of Culture 2019.
Each received a blue box with a map of the city and a sheet of tissue paper on which to jot down memories and feelings.
Young storytellers and modern cartographers led by writer Alessandro Baricco, artist Stefano Faravelli and dancer-choreographer Heike Hennig then drew up anunprecedented map in the form of a multisensory path set up by set designer Paolo Baroni. A pathway consisting of emotions with different art forms: poetry, fiction, painting, sculpture, video-performances and dance.



The exhibition is conceived by theTeatro dei Sassi Association and co-produced by the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation and is part of the official Matera 2019 program for the theme Continuity and Ruptures.
