The fourteenth edition of ArteGenova, the Ligurian capital’s contemporary art market exhibition, will be held this year between February 16 and 19, in the Blue Pavilion of the fairgrounds, designed by Atelier Jean Nouvel and inaugurated in 2009: a packed program of exhibitions, events, meetings and presentations will surround the show, which for 2018 will feature 150 exhibitors bringing more than a thousand artists and about seven thousand works to Genoa.
It will be, once again this year, a market exhibition devoted to great quality. Alongside established contemporary artists, there will also be space for names of historicized artists such as Lucio Fontana, Giorgio De Chirico, Giacomo Balla, Alberto Burri, Carlo Carrà, Agostino Bonalumi, Mario Sironi, Giorgio Morandi, Mario Schifano, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Alighiero Boetti, Paul Jenkins, Mimmo Rotella and Christo. Then, also for the 2018 edition there will be the C.A.T.S. section - Contemporary Art Talent Show, dedicated to emerging artists who submit works worth less than 5,000 euros.
It is precisely the C.A.T.S. section that represents one of the flagships of ArteGenova: it is a project, the organizers explain, conceived “to encourage artistic production and incentivize among the public of collectors the knowledge of emerging talents, to dynamize the current art market by proposing works of art at an affordable price, and to generate new and highly communicative spaces in which each artistic reality can enhance its creations.” The 2018 edition of C.A.T.S. will feature 80 exhibitors including galleries, associations, independent artists and collectives.
ArteGenova will be open from Feb. 16 to 19: Friday 16, Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For all information visit www.artegenova.com.
