Sunrise at the Herculaneum Archaeological Park: a novel experience between archaeology and sound

The Herculaneum Archaeological Park offers a completely new view of the site at first light that combines archaeology and sound. The event is June 29 with repeats on July 20 and Aug. 31.

The Archaeological Park of Herculaneum becomes the setting for an experience that combines archaeology and sounds, in a crescendo of emotions that integrates monuments, natural landscapes and the territory, offering a completely unprecedented view of the place at first light in the morning. In fact, on June 29, with replicas on July 20 and Aug. 31, the Park offers The Dawn Show - Inventions in Three Voices, an original CoopCulture production, which will animate some of Italy’s historical, artistic and archaeological wonders until August.

The narration of archaeologists and art historians will alternate with musical notes and voices that will accompany visitors on a sound journey through the Mediterranean to distant places and eras. The musical program embraces a wide repertoire, from music by Roberto De Simone, Benjamin Britten. W.A. Mozart, Gabriel Fauré, Jansug Kakhidze and songs from the Campanian, Sardinian and Portuguese folk traditions, interpreted by the voice of Marina Bruno, Enzo Pietropaoli on double bass and Daniele Sepe on saxophone.

“We are the only archaeological site to offer this possibility in Campania and among the very few in all of Italy. We love Herculaneum and this place is loved at all hours. Imagine the thrill of watching the sun rise in one of the most evocative and historically rich places in the Mediterranean,” said Archaeological Park Director Francesco Sirano. “Imagine walking those same streets at dawn that two thousand years ago were already teeming with life for a few hours. Experiencing a place like this accompanied by the music and scents of early morning will enrich your memory with a unique memory.”
