In September, Patrimonio in Comune, the program of events curated by the Capitoline Superintendence for Cultural Heritage and aimed at everyone, will start again in September to introduce the cultural heritage of Roma Capitale through visits, itineraries, meetings and cycles of conferences.
Extraordinary openings to discover the beauties and secrets of the city and walk through little-known archaeological itineraries accompanied by the archaeologists and art historians of the Sovrintendenza: from Porta del Popolo to the Church of Sant’Urbano alla Caffarella, from the Casina delle Civette in Villa Torlonia to the Sepolcreto on Via Ostiense, to the Renaissance residence of Cardinal Bessarione at the beginning of the Appia Antica.
For MIC Card holders, there will be visits to the Civic Museums of Roma Capitale guided by the museums’ curators themselves. It will be possible to delve into the works and themes of the collections and visit some of the main current exhibitions: the first monographic exhibition of photographer Peggy Kleiber at the Museo di Roma in Trastevere, the “faces” of Emperor Augustus in the exhibition at the Mercati di Traiano, the “Rome of the Republic” at the Capitoline Museums, and the unpublished works of sculptor Pietro Tenerani told by the photographs of Luigi Spina in the exhibition Vis-à-vis at the Museo di Roma in Palazzo Braschi.
Two cycles of meetings are planned: Dalle Carte alle Storie at the headquarters of the Archivio Storico Capitolino in the monumental complex of the Oratorio dei Filippini in Piazza della Chiesa Nuova. The protagonists will be women whose personal history was intertwined with the political history of the past: the 15th-century noblewoman Giulia Farnese, one of the most important female figures of the Renaissance, and the Bonaparte princesses, Charlotte and Zénaide, whose letters written from America will be presented.
At the Villa Borghese’s Casino dell’Orologio will be held Le Ville raccontano, stories and curiosities about the complex and articulated world of Rome’s historic villas: from the Villa Borghese inscriptions found in the estate of Herod Atticus and Annia Regilla on the Appia Antica, to the history of Roman gardens with the creation of fountains and nymphaea, to the transformations of Villa Corsini at the entrance to Villa Doria Pamphilj, to the undergrounds of Villa Borghese.
The initiatives are promoted by Roma Capitale, Assessorato alla Cultura, Sovrintendenza Capitolina ai Beni Culturali. Zètema Progetto Cultura museum services.
