The film aims to recount the artistic revolution ofImpressionism through fifty previously unseen hidden treasures exhibited for the first time in Rome, at the Palazzo Bonaparte, on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name created and produced by Arthemisia and open until March 8, 2020. A journey inside the intimacy of the Impressionists and their paintings.

The exhibition’s two curators, Claire Durand-Ruel (art historian and expert on Camille Pissarro and great-granddaughter of the famous art dealer Paul Durand-Ruel) and Marianne Mathieu (expert on Berthe Morisot and scientific director of the collections of the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris), will take viewers on a journey where images will be narrated by experts, historians, artists, and other figures connected to the world of modern painting and visual culture. Works by Manet, Caillebotte, Monet, Berthe Morisot, Cézanne, Sisley, and Signac will delve into individual artists and the main characteristics of the Impressionist movement. There will also be space for a focus on the Palazzo Bonaparte, a fascinating venue that will open its doors to viewers for the first time on this occasion, and an in-depth look at the figures of the curator and collector, to emphasize the many aspects of the work that went into the making of the project.

The more reserved and lesser-known characters of the Impressionists will be evoked, thanks in part to talks by experts such as art historians Alain Tapié and Sergio Gaddi, writer and essayist Melania Mazzucco, photographer and filmmaker Fabio Lovino, artist Giuliano Giuman and collector Scott Black.
