Rome Photography, TWM Factory, Il Fotografo magazine and the Lodi Ethical Photography Festival, in collaboration with The Walkman Magazine are launching a photo call titled Life in the Time of Coronavirus.
The theme, of course, is the Coronavirus that has spread rapidly from one part of the globe to another, revolutionizing the lives of much of humanity in a matter of weeks.
Fear, irony, bewilderment, disbelief, anger, fatality, aggression, generosity and many other feelings are moving each of us and entire populations to assume or follow private and social behaviors that are conveyed very quickly by the official media but especially by social media, which act as a wide and very high amplifier in everyone’s mind and emotions.
The isolation of individuals and entire nations produces immediate economic effects, but yet to be explored from a social, anthropological and emotional point of view. The organizers are animated by the will and desire to bear witness through the photographic art that it popularizes and promotes, to what photography has always been: the visual medium par excellence that tells with immediacy and power moments of private life and major social events.
Today technology has made this possibility accessible to everyone. With this awareness we wish to transform the infinite feelings and conditioning that accompany this difficult period into a great opportunity that breaks down limits, overrides walls, telling and expressing in many different languages, but contextually with a common language, that of photography, all that is happening in the different countries of the world and among the many peoples who inhabit it, with the many cultural, social and religious implications that characterize us.
The call categories are: SHORT STORY, a category for which the work submitted must be a project composed of a minimum of 6 maximum 10 photographs, and SINGLE SHOT, in which the participant can submit one or more single images (even at different times). Any author can participate in both categories.
Participation in the Call is free of charge. Those who have reached the age of majority (18 years old) professional and amateur photographers, foreigners and Italians, may join the initiative.
