The birthday will be celebrated with a program full of events between April 21 and 22 that was presented on the morning of April 18 at the Tabularium of the Capitoline Museums with speeches by Rome Mayor Virginia Raggi, Deputy Mayor Luca Bergamo and Roma Capitale Culture Commission Chairwoman Eleonora Guadagno.
“Rome is ours and we have to celebrate it,” said Mayor Raggi, "The new fact that inspired us is that Christmas in Rome has remained somewhat closed to the city and we would like the city to start participating, having events and moments that celebrate it in a widespread and square way.
The festivities will start on April 21 at 9:30 a.m. with the laying of a laurel wreath by Mayor Virginia Raggi at the Unknown Soldier in Piazza Venezia and will continue at 11 a.m. with the official ceremony in Aula Giulio Cesare. At 12 p.m., the local police band will perform in Capitol Square, followed by the mayor meeting with some of Rome’s high school students in the Marcus Aurelius Exedra of the Capitoline Museums. For movie buffs, from 4 p.m. at the Casa del Cinema there will be a free admission “Brothers, Knives, Twins” screening produced in collaboration with the Fondazione Cinema per Roma.
From 4 to 8 p.m., there is also the usual appointment with the marathon reading of the sonnets of “Giuseppe Gioacchino Belli. La nascita de Roma,” now in its third edition, organized by the Superintendence at the Protomoteca Hall of Palazzo Senatorio in Campidoglio.

Also at 10 a.m. in Passeggiata di Ripetta/Piazza Augusto Imperatore, the memorial plaque of archaeologist Antonio Nibby (Rome, April 14, 1792 - Rome Dec. 29, 1839), a scholar of the topography of Rome and the Roman Campagna, will be unveiled.
In addition, “The Ara as it was” at the Ara Pacis Museum will reserve a special promotion dedicated to Roman citizens for the days of Friday 20 and Saturday 21.
