After the success of the first edition, which closed with more than 30,000 visitors and public appreciation, Rome Arte in Nuvola, the major international fair of modern and contemporary art conceived and directed by Alessandro Nicosia with the artistic direction of Adriana Polveroni and the collaboration of Valentina Ciarallo, returns to the capital. The event is scheduled for November 17-20, 2022 at the striking setting of the Fuksas Cloud.
With more than 140 participating Italian and international galleries - including many new ones - Roma Arte in Nuvola 2022 aims to consolidate its role on Italian collecting in Central and Southern Italy, enhancing its high potential. At the same time, the event fills a decades-long lack of similar initiatives in the capital, serving as a vehicle for modern and contemporary art to meet and intercepting the needs of a vibrant Roman art scene that has emerged in recent years. A multifaceted artistic offer able to give voice to all disciplines - from painting to installations, from sculpture to performance, from video art to digital art to street art - with the aim of intercepting the best exhibition proposal of the entire national scene.
Rich program of special projects, performances and talks intended not only for specialists and insiders, but also a wider audience of young people and simple enthusiasts. Also for this reason, the exhibition event intends to pose as a great celebration of art, participatory and inclusive, able to offer an exciting and shared artistic-cultural experience, within an exceptional scenario, such as La Nuvola di Fuksas. The space of over 14,000 square meters, will host modern art on the General Floor (ground floor) while contemporary art on the Forum (first level), creating a dialogue between different artistic expressions.
Underlining the international vocation of the event, this year’s edition has chosen to host Ukraine as a foreign country with a strong desire to express a clear position in favor of the values of exchange, inclusion and peaceful coexistence among peoples. On this occasion, the project"SI VIS PACEM," curated by Yevhen Bereznitsky, Director of the Bereznitsky Art Foundation, dedicated to Ukrainian art of the second half of the 20th century, contemporary art of independent Ukraine and works created as a direct reaction to Russian military aggression, is presented. Thus, the pavilion presents works by Vasyl Yarych, Yuri Smirnov, Viktor Kravtsov to describe peaceful Ukraine, as well as canvases by Viktor Sydorenko, Yuri Sivirin, Vladislav Mamsikov with reflections on war.
The large spaces of the Cloud will provide the stage for more than 15 special projects, starting with two exhibitions that occupy a prominent role in the event. From the synergistic connection between territory and art comes The Great Masterpieces of Eur. An Appearance of Values, an exhibition dedicated to works of art owned by Eur S.p.A., brought together for the first time outside their usual context. The exhibition, promoted by Eur S.p.A. in collaboration with C.O.R. is aimed at enhancing important masterpieces created by artists, designers and planners kept in some symbolic places of the district. In addition, an exhibition by Piero Dorazio, one of the leading exponents of European abstractionism, will be presented with more than 30 works. The exhibition, hosted on the General Floor of the Cloud will be organized with the collaboration of Tornabuoni Arte.
Also returning is the Talks program curated by Adriana Polveroni, hosted on the N3 floor of the Nuvola where different voices, some Italian and foreign, among artists, curators, collectors and museum directors will confront each other.
Four prizes will be awarded as part of the fair (“The Best,” “Rock,” “Young,” and “Absolute Modern”) testifying to the great attention that the fair pays to the care and originality with which galleries set up their stands, recognizing their professionalism and ability to reinvent their proposal.
